Synopsis

The Proceedings of the 7th Conference of AG Animation 2024 (CAGA), hosted by The Animation Workshop, VIA University College, present research and discussions from the conference held in Viborg, September 10–11, 2024. The event brought together scholars, industry professionals, curators, and practitioners to examine the rapid developments and emerging trends shaping contemporary animation and visual storytelling.

Under the theme The (R)Evolution of Animation: Current Challenges and Future Directions, the conference explored how technological innovation intersects with ecological, political, ethical, and industrial challenges. The contributions collected in this volume analyse the key drivers transforming the field as well as the obstacles it currently faces, offering insight into the evolving trajectories of animation art, practice, scholarship, and industry.
