Abstract

This report presents the evaluation of the implementation and testing of SIMBA, an approach and method for supported and supervised contact between children and young people in out-of-home care and their parents.

SIMBA stands for Collaboration, Involvement, Meaning, Sustainability and Recognition. It consists of six methodological focus areas designed to strengthen the practice of supported and supervised contact.

SIMBA was developed as part of the research and development project SAMVÆR (2022-2027) through a partnership between researchers, public authorities and providers of supported and supervised contact services. SIMBA is based on research and development work conducted within the partnership (Nissen & Ravn, 2025).
