Content Moderation and Complaint Options

Open Books is operated and maintained by The Royal Danish Library. The Royal Danish Library is not responsible for the content that is uploaded and published on the platform.

Content on the platform is not moderated. The individual Publisher of the content is responsible for ensuring the quality of the content.

No algorithms are used to sort the content on the platform or the order of it.

Content is only removed upon request from a user with a legitimate reason, such as copyright infringement or violation of other legislation.

If content is removed, The Royal Danish Library or the Publisher will attempt to contact the author of the content via the email address provided by the author when submitting the content.

Users who upload harmful content to one or more Publishers on Open Books will be removed. Users who harass one or more Publishers on Open Books by, for example, submitting multiple non-publishable materials may also be removed.

Once a year, The Royal Danish Library will publish a transparency report showing the number and types of interventions against content, as well as information about complaints and complaint handling. The report will be published on this page.

Have you found any content on Open Books that you wish to complain about? We only handle complaints about content that infringes copyright or violates other legislation.

Complaints about content can be sent via email to openbooks@kb.dk. Please remember to specify:

  • Which publication, the complaint is concerning. Provide the link to the publication.
  • What the infringement consists of.

If you wish to complain that your content has been removed from the platform, you can send an email to openbooks@kb.dk. Please remember to specify:

  • Which publication, the complaint is concerning.
  • Why the removal of the publication was unjustified.
